In addition to team tryouts, Avalanche SC will be holding age group ID sessions open to all players. Both Avalanche and outside players are highly encouraged to attend. Registration is not required to attend ID session.

U15 League Age Group Cycle
While the new US Soccer team formation was implemented to better align player age groups with school grade levels to reduce "trapped players", there is still an issue within the U15 age group, specifically with 8th graders.
Since playing down is not an option, Colorado Soccer will be expanding the U14/U15 age group cycle, combining U14 and U15, creating a U15 division for both fall & spring. Expanding the age group cycle catches players who would lose half the state league season due to CHSAA high school season. This also gives freshman an option to play should they not make their high school team.

Avalanche will be hosting Player ID sessions open to all players starting in April. Registration is not required to attend ID sessions.

Invitations to join an Academy U9 or U10 team for Fall & Spring 2026 seasons (full year) will be sent out in mid-May.

Are tryouts free?
Yes, registration for 2026/27 season tryouts are free and is not a committment to the club or team.
Do I have to register for May tryouts?
Yes, all current and new players need to register for tryouts in order for a team placement offer to be received. Avalanche uses Playmetrics for our registration system. To sign up for tryouts- Login to your Playmetric account if you are a returning Avalanche player. If new to the club, you must create a new family account, add your player and register. You will be using Playmetrics for all registration needs in the future.
When are tryouts?
Per CSA tryout rules, tryouts for U11-U19 layers can be held anytime throughout the year for in-club players (Avalanche players). In addition, the club can hold tryouts beginning May 1 and later for all Avalanche and out of club (non-Avalanche) players.
For Academy players (U9-U10) player placement can be held for all players before May 1. Avalanche will be hosting player placement sessions in April/May.
If I can't make tryouts, but have intentions to play with Avalanche, do I still need to register for tryouts and is there another way for my player to be evaluated?
Yes, you still need to register for tryout in order to get a team placement offer. New players, please email us at info@avalanche.org for alternative evaluation opportunites. Current players, email your coach should a conflict arise.
I've been playing a year up, what tryout do I register for?
You will need to attend your age group tryout. If your abilities excel in comparison to the rest of the players in that age group, then a separate conversation will be held.
When will I be notified of team placement?
In general you will receive a verbal offer via an on-field discussion and/or an email via Playmetrics within 72 hrs of the last day of tryouts. Official acceptance is made by accepting your Playmetrics offer and completing your online registration by paying the accpetance deposit of $150. Players will have 24 hours to accept or decline offer. If more time is needed, please let the coach listed on the email know. No communication leads a coach to believe that there is no interest in joining the team and the next player on the list will be notified.
Once a player accepts the offer and pays the deposit, they are considered registered with Avalanche for the 2026-2027 sesaon and Avalanche payment & release policies apply.
Avalanche SC offers several payment options that fit families' financial needs including but not limited to pay in full, payments plans and financial assistance.
