The Avalanche were represented heavily this past weekend in the Vail Valley Cup and the Colorado Shootout, with teams bringing home the hardware. Read further for comments from our coaches.
09G Gray and Blue | Colorado Shootout
Head Coach, Kasee Horton: "Both teams had an absolute blast. While we did not get a tournament win out of either team it was so rewarding to see such a huge amount of improvement from both groups. The complex and tournament overall were wonderful and we are really glad we got to take both teams out to enjoy some great competition while the weather is still good. More than anything, it was great to see the girls grow together as a team both on and off the field."
08 Boys Gold | Colorado Shootout Champions
Head Coach, Max Sweeny: "Success comes with enjoyment. I have continued to preach this to my boys and as they continue to have more fun with the game, they have continued to succeed against better and better competition. Congrats on a fantastic run 08 Boys gold."
07 Boys Gold | Vail Cup
Head Coach, Brad Sandler: "I challenged my boys each game to work on 3 things that we needed to improve on: communication, use of our support, and switch the fields more often. Each game they made a 100% effort and showed major improvement in all areas as well as had a ton of fun!"
07 Girls Gold | Vail Cup
Head Coach, Courtney Clayton: “The girls never gave up and played with smiles on their faces and for the love of all things soccer, scored some goals!"
07 Girls Plat | Vail Cup
Head Coach, Teresa Lange: "The girls possession play was unrivaled and received compliments from the opposition. In each successive game they improved and played with fire and passion to earn a 4th game. The Vail Cup is hands down a great mountain experience and so much fun for players and families."
06 Girls Plat | Vail Cup
Executive Director, Teresa Lange: "06 Girls Plat advance to the final and finish 2nd overall losing a tough last game 1-0."
