What is Futsal?

Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced, small-sided football game that originates from South America in the 1930s. It is widely played across the world and is the small-sided football format that is officially recognized by both UEFA and FIFA. The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure, and is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for football competencies that can be translated into the 11-a-side format of the game.

Ever heard of Messi or Ronaldinho or Neymar or Cristiano Ronaldo? These are some of the very best soccer players in the world who credit futsal as a huge part of their development and the reason why they became the player they are today.

Why Play Futsal?

The average player touches the ball 210% more often in Futsal than indoor soccer with walls and 500% more than regular outdoor games.

Confidence on the ball, receiving a pass under pressure, decision-making in 1v1 situations and ball retention are all important fundamental skills that we look to develop in young football players that are practiced regularly within a game environment in Futsal.

Information

Dates:  January 9 - March 1

U11 (2012 and younger) - games start 1/16
U12  (2011 and older) - gamest start 1/11

Note: Schedule may change due to player registration numbers. Final schedule to be posted on TeamSnap.

Game Days:
2012 and younger - Mondays
2011 and older* - Wednesdays

NOTE: 2011s may be scheduled to play some Monday games.

Game Times: Between 5:30 - 8:30 PM

Games will be 30-40 minutes in length

Format: 5v5 (7-8 players per team)

Cost: $45 per player

*NOTE: Some details subject to change based on number of participants

We will host an "Intro to Futsal" night prior to the start of the league for registered players new to Futsal. Details to be emailed after players register for the league.
